Just a thought.

Maybe we should all pledge allegiance to the constitution and not the flag. When people take the oath of office or become citizens they take an oath to the constitution. Pledging to a flag has no value. You can say that represents anything. It has a meaning but no context. Maybe this is one reason so few people care about the founding documents and the intent of the founders? The founders  would not recognize today’s flag or see what we have now as the same republic they founded. Not because of technology but because of what our government has become.

The way it is now, if you don’t go along with all of the things the government does, then you’re a terrorist or a criminal.
